From this point forward I decided to take my health into my own hands with an initial focus on reducing the amount of toxic additives that my family were putting into their bodies.
I began reading the labels on food packets, I changed the products we used on our bodies and the cleaning products I used around our home in favour of more natural options. I also invested in some plants (peace lilly’s) and salt lamps to purify the air and help my son who had severe respiratory issues. Over time, we changed our diet as we moved into a plant-based way of eating, and this is when we all noticed an even bigger improvement in our health.
By removing animal products from our family diet, eg. meat, cow milk and cow yoghurt and a reduction in other dairy products such as cheese, we soon found that we were no longer regular visitors to the GP clinic, hospital or other specialists. My husbands gut and sinus issues seemed to resolve themselves, our son’s chronic asthma seemed to disappear, our daughters constant ear, nose and throat infections were no longer existent either. My overall health and well-being greatly improved as my remaining 1/2 thyroid came into balance. My skin became healthy and had a glow, my stress, anxiety and menstrual issues all greatly reduced with the additional support of meditation, acupuncture and sound healing. We all found ourselves with much more energy and a new zest for life! Our bodies returned to harmony and balance.
Since this point, my family’s health as well as my own has continued to thrive. Changing what we eat, eliminating the unnecessary additives in food and toxins within the home, has been a major part of our healing journey, along with several other natural healing modalities to support us all further.
Essential oils became a big part of our life too - so much so that I began creating my own intuitive blends to help calm, uplift, balance and support our bodies. This has grown into a small business which now also includes other handcrafted products, such as natural bath salts and body scrubs - all helping to detoxify and nourish the body.
Most days you will find me in the kitchen creating recipes for tasty vegan food or making fresh juices. If I’m not creating something in the kitchen, I’m quite likely rolling out my yoga mat to stretch and move my body in ways that feel good and re-energise me. I also often meditate to ground, connect with my breath and bring myself back to a sense of peace. My diffuser is always on, with essential oils filling our home with uplifting or calming aromas.
I also love the outdoors. Whether it be a doing some gardening, taking a walk along the beach or venturing out into nature somewhere with my Labrador, I’m always looking to embrace the feeling of warm sunshine on my body. I also enjoy listening to uplifting music, playing with my sound bowls, filling my home with crystals and reading holistic wellness books.
Health to me, needs to be holistic.
True health and wellbeing incorporates the body, mind and soul. It should include all aspects of the physical, mental, emotional and energetic bodies. When these come into balance, so too does our overall health. My experiences have guided me to where I am today, and I’m here to help you on your journey to wellness.
