Explant Surgery
Happiness is your birth right. Happiness is an inside job and no-one can tell you that your decision is a bad one or one that won’t make you happy.
I had breast implants put in, in 2010 not long after the birth of my second child. My confidence and self worth around my body changing and feeling like I lost myself along the way played a huge role in my decision. At the time this decision was the best one for me.
In 2021 I was in 2 minds about having them removed permanently or having them replaced. Seeking other people’s advice, and going against my gut feeling, I choose to have them replaced. Instantly I knew that wasn’t right for me and knew they wouldn’t stay for long.
In 2023, I enquired about having them removed. My surgeon said to me ‘you won’t be happy’. This time I moved forward with confidence about my decision and what felt right for me and my body.
I worked on my mental & emotional health around this decision because it’s not always just an easy decision to make, especially when nothing shows up as wrong on the ultrasounds.
I made sure to have supportive people and a supportive environment around me to recover. I prepped lots of fresh juice, meals and snacks in the lead up to help detoxify and nourish my body and I took the 6 weeks recovery period to rest.
I used red light therapy, then slowly added nourishing oils & essential oils like frankincense & grapefruit, guasha and cupping to support the scar tissue and my body has healed beautifully this time.
If you are considering explant surgery, ask for an En Bloc Removal as it removes not only the implant but the capsule as well, as a whole. Without this, breast implant illness symptoms can still occur. Worryingly, some surgeons don’t do this. I have definately noticed less neck and shoulder pain and stiffness and I don’t get migraines anymore. The list of symptoms is so long if you google it, and I had many without ever knowing it was related to the implants.
Follow your intuition and gut feelings and always choose what’s best for you, even if the surgeons, specialists and well meaning people in your life don’t agree.
